Fujita Corporation has continually expanded its role in construction and in urban redevelopment since the Fujita brothers started their engineering-works construction contract business in Hiroshima in 1910.

Although the city of Hiroshima was devastated by the detonation of the first atomic bomb during World War II, the Fujita Corporation continued to grow, both in scale and reputation. The rebuilding of Japan following World War II led to the modernization of the construction industry generally and to the introduction of long-range management planning. As a consequence of Fujita's expansion over this period, parts of the businesss were listed on the Tokyo and Osaka securities exchange in 1963.

In 1959-60 we founded the Fujita Technical Institute - an in-house R&D center designed to bring innovative new technologies to the construction industry - such as fully automated construction, new computing techniques and environmental technologies.

Whilst we are engaged in construction of many high-profile projects in Japan (such as the Shinkansen and the Tokyo Olympic Games institution) we have also undertaken major projects in Europe, Central America, the Middle East, Cina and Southeast Asia.

Since the 1960s, we have been heavily involved in construction management and, since 1990, we have been increasingly aware of the environmental responsibilities of construction companies. Our major aims are best summarized by our new slogan "Fujita - Creating Superior Environments ".

1910	Construction contract business is opened in Hiroshima
1937	Fujita is incorporated and the head office is assigned in Tokyo.
1958	The contract for construction of the Amagasaki section of the first expressway road in Japan (Meishin Expressway) is awarded to Fujita
1959	Long-range management planning is started. Modernization of the management (which was operated on an "order-received" model until this time) is started.
1959-60	A technical research center is founded.
1961	The order of national project Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train railway) construction is received
1963	Stocks are listed.
1963	Fujita is awarded the contract for the Japan hall at the Peru international trade
1964	The Tokyo Olympic Games memorial tower is completed.
1965	A liaison office and an affiliated company are established in Peru. Orders are received for Japan-Peru Cultural hall, Pampilla oil refinery plant and a major satellite station
1968	The value engineering technique is introduced.
1970	Many pavillions constructed for Japan World Expo
1971	Fujita is awarded the contract for Nagasaki international airport (the world's first marine airport)
1971	An Fujita subsidary is founded in North America. The order of an international trade center is received in Guam Island. A hotel is managed in California.
1972	The hotel enterprise was started in South Korea. Managed by carrying out a design and construction of the Hyatt Regency Seoul in 1978.
1976	A liaison office is established to Kuwait. 1978 Contract for the Sief palace area building is received in Kuwait. Gymnasium and amphitheater, winter indoor swimming pool is received in Baghdad, Iraq.
1978	Research and development into application of microelectronics technologies in the construction industry are begun.
1979	National university isconstructed in Qatar. The viru viru international airport is constructed in Bolivia
1983	The Honshu-Shikoku bridge "Innoshima Ohashi" is completed
1983	Development of a large-sized office building " Encino terrace center" is started in Los Angeles.
1986	Fujita's Hong Kong affiliate founds a joint corporation in China.
1987	Construction and management contract for Grand Castel Hotel Xi’an is awarded.
1990	New company slogan " Creating Superior Environments "
1993	Establishment and environmental preservation activity are developed for a "earth environment charter."
1993	A patent and the industrial new design public presentation number of cases are at the top in the industry.
1993	The Shanghai Pudong Jinqiao Industrial Park development enterprise starts.
1997	All domestic branches implement the ISO 9001 standard.
1997	ISO 14001accreditation is acquired by Fujita - the first time a general construction company has done so
1998	The super-high-rise project "Shanghai World Trade Center" was designed and constructed in China
1999	Middle management is extensively re-organized in a modernaization of organizational structure
1999	The new institution of a technical center is opened in Atsugi City.
1999	Publication of Fujita's annual environmental review begins.
2000	Decides upon the "Fujita centennial vision."
2001	Fujita is awarded a major contract for the construction of a theater building as a part of redevelopment enterprises in the central part and the Roppongi area in Tokyo.
2002	"New Fujita" Corporation is founded by corporate restructing on October 1.
2005	Announced (previous) medium term business plan.Obtain ISO9001 and ISO14001
2007	"Announced New medium term business plan "Fujita Step-up Plan".
